Whole Class Writing Journals

Hey, y'all! In an effort to simplify our writing center and get students to read more of each other's writing, we'll be using whole class writing journals this school year. They're super simple to setup and implement which makes me love them even more.

There are 36 different primary friendly writing prompts and a writing checklist. I put the writing prompts on the outside of the notebooks so students know which is which. On the inside cover, I put the writing checklist. I used clear packing tape to hold them in place and make sure they don't get ruined.

As I add new notebooks to the writing center, I go over what the writing prompt is for each journal so my emergent readers know what we're doing. I also encourage my students to read each other's writing so that they can get ideas and see examples of other students' work.

There are prompts for different holidays, silly stories, informational writing, social emotional learning, and more. There are enough to last an entire school year. You can check out all the prompts in my Teachers Pay Teachers store here

I hope you found some new ideas you love for your classroom. I'm always adding new resources to my TPT store so be sure to follow me for all the latest ideas, updates, and resources.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week. I'll talk to you soon.

Stay cozy,
