Second Grade Spelling with Boom Learning
Hey, y'all. I was needing a creative way for students to continue to practice spelling words at home in a way that I could still check their work. Boom Cards allow me follow my students' progress and gives them a fun way to keep working on spelling.
Our district uses the program Into Reading by Houghton Mifflin. These cards follow the weekly spelling list my students have (minus the review words). So each deck includes 14 new cards. I've added all the cards needed for the rest of the school year, and I'm starting next year's list.
Each 3-week module has a different background, making it easy to see if students are working in the right unit, and it provides some novelty to each unit.
If you don't use HMH Into Reading, you can still easily find a list that works for you. Each set is titled with the spelling pattern it covers, making it easy to rearrange if needed.
You can also differentiate your spelling practice easily by assigning different decks to different sets of students. My high group needs a different list than my lower kids. Assigning different decks is a quick and easy way to differentiate without the kids even realizing it.
You can find all of the spelling decks on TPT here. More new resources are being added all the time, so be sure to follow me on TPT so you don't miss a thing. You never know what you're going to find. Have a great week and I'll talk to you soon.
